It took place in a futuristic city I’ve seen in my dreams since I was little. It’s futuristic but not super different than now, but it’s a city that is huge and way tall but expansive. I worked in healthcare with my friend and mom. The healcare system was degrading because long time runners of hospitals got bought out by a larger umbrella company that really didn’t know anything about healthcare, they were originally a fame management company for influencers or something. Several people around us died and we saw the healcare system get worse and worse. I had three ducks who had babies that at the beginning of the dream were well off but at the end of the dream most had died in a snowstorm and I saw a lot of the babies dead on the ground frozen in a group. The parent ducks were distressed and one was also frozen. I gave her CPR as I tried to look for more surviving ducklings. The CPR worked at first and she started moving and it was hopefully but she fell limp as soon as I stopped CPR thinking she was okay and she stared to drown while I swam through a swimming pool looking for more of the baby ducks in the drain filter and stuff. I remember feeling pissed at my mom because o had warned her several times that the ducks needed to have a safer place to live. This happens in real life with me with my mom and our ducks that I warn her the ducks need to be safer. My cousin was also in the dream and at the beginning she was just hanging out with other rich kids but I knew they were bad influences. By the end of the dream she was fully emerged in a really bad lifestyle where her and her friends were doing heavy drugs and I saw her get a really bad face tattoo in the back of a bar. The tattooer was supposed to give her a little tattoo on her face but thought it’d be funny to scribble on her face in a zigzag almost heartbeat looking pattern across her face and I was like WTF but my cousin didn’t seem to care (almost like she was zoned out on drugs). At the end of the dream the sale of the healthcare company o worked for went through and we sat through a meeting watching a “what to expect” video from the new parent company and it was clear it was going to be horrible and patients were going to die because of their incompetence. After I tried to rescue the ducklings that died and I was walking around the edge of this skyscraper city to see if any had wandered, I looked back to where I originally saw the ducklings dead and saw a crow take off from the ground and soar into the sky with a long crow feather. I remember feeling comforted and hopeful that the crows were almost paying homage to the ducklings when all of a sudden, from where the crow took off, my coworker jumped from the building presumably because she knew the healthcare system was fucked. That’s when I woke up
Your dream is rich with symbols and emotions, weaving together personal experiences, relationships, and deeper anxieties about societal issues. Let's break down some of the key elements:
Futuristic City: The setting in a futuristic city suggests a blend of hope and anxiety about the future. This expansive, towering environment reflects your aspirations and the immense challenges that can accompany progress. It signifies your desire for a better world, yet highlights your concerns about the changes happening around you.
Healthcare System: The degradation of the healthcare system in your dream symbolizes a fear of losing control over what is essential—your own health and the wellbeing of others. Working in healthcare with your friend and mom, signals a strong connection to family and the value you place on caring for others. This tumultuous situation reflects your worries about the integrity of systems that should protect and nurture people but are instead being compromised.
Ducks and Their Babies: Ducks often represent maternal care and nurturing instincts. The baby ducks symbolize innocence and vulnerability, perhaps echoing your feelings of responsibility for those who depend on you (much like your relationship with your mother and the actual ducks you care for). The fact that most of the ducklings die during a snowstorm indicates an external force of nature that is beyond your control—suggesting feelings of helplessness and the struggle against adversity in both your personal life and your career.
CPR Attempt: Your act of performing CPR on the duck signifies hope, determination, and the instinct to save and revive that which you care about. However, the duck’s failure to survive after you stop working on it might represent your fears of failure, whether in your relationships, your career, or in your efforts to care for others.
Cousin’s Downward Spiral: The involvement of your cousin in a harmful lifestyle could represent your concerns or fears for loved ones who may be influenced by negative forces. Witnessing her engage with bad influences and make impulsive decisions could signal a feeling of helplessness concerning the choices that others make, reflecting your worries about the future of those you care about.
Crow Symbolism: Crows are often regarded as symbols of transformation and messages from the spiritual realm. The crow taking off with a feather after the deaths might be seen as a symbol of mourning but also of hope and renewal. It suggests that while there may be loss, there is also the potential for change and upliftment—hinting at the cycles of life and death.
Suicide of Your Coworker: The abrupt act of your coworker jumping off the building highlights the extreme stress and despair associated with the situation you face in the dream. This tragic moment sums up the seriousness of your concerns about the healthcare system, and possibly reveals your own anxiety about the consequences of systemic failures on individuals.
In summary, your dream reflects deep-seated fears related to responsibility, care, and the fragility of life in the face of overwhelming societal and personal challenges. It also reveals your protective instincts towards loved ones and your frustrations with situations you feel are beyond your control. The dream calls for introspection about the balance between your nurturing nature and the limits of what you can change. It may also suggest a need to address your feelings of helplessness and frustration, encouraging you to find proactive ways to create positive change, both in your personal relationships and professional life.
